Want a quick, easy, and proven way to get a blog post off the ground quickly?

If so, I’ve got a strategy you’ll find really useful. This framework is really helpful when you’re a little lost and don’t know where to start with your blog posts. It can help you quickly get a draft going, often in as little as 5 minutes. In fact, I even used it to write this post!

What am I talking about? The AIDA framework.

The attention, interest, desire, action (AIDA) framework is one of the most tried and tested formulas to get people to do what you want. You’ll notice it in lots of sales letters — that’s how you know it works.

The four components of the AIDA framework

The attention part is where you get the reader’s attention, making them notice your post. You do this by either telling a story or delivering useful information that they can’t wait to share. People are much more likely to read your blog if they know it will tell them something they don’t already know!

The interest part is where you start to convince them that what you have to say is worth reading. You do this by using a statistic or an example, and explaining why it matters. If they’re hooked on the subject already, they’ll be more likely to keep reading.

The desire part is where you give them a good reason to read on — and to do what you want them to do. This can be tricky, but usually boils down to giving away a little prize and making it clear how reading your blog posts will help them get it.

The action part is where you need to ask them for the result you want. Make sure it’s something simple, specific, and easy for them to do. If it’s complicated, you’ll scare them off; if it takes too much work, they may not bother; and if there’s nothing in it for them personally, they probably won’t see the point!

One great advantage of this framework is that it works just as well on autopilot when you’re writing your blog posts — just work through the steps and you’ll be done in no time. Of course, it’s still worth planning your blog posts carefully beforehand so you know what direction to take — but following this framework step by step takes a lot of the hard work out of blogging.

For example, here’s an AIDA framework for an article about a jetpack.

Attention:

What would you say if we told you that people will be strapping on jetpacks to fly around in the next couple of years?

Interest:

A company called ‘JetPack Aviation’ is now making working prototypes. It’s even flown a man with one before, as seen in this video.

Desire:

With the right investment, they say that anyone could be flying jetpacks in no time at all. And you can get involved — but only for the next few hours.

Action:

We’ve got 200 of these jetpacks available to give away to readers like you, so keep on reading for your chance to win.

Conclusion

Of course, there are lots of different ways you can use this framework — so feel free to experiment! The more you practice with it, the easier it will become. By the way… you can also use this AIDA framework for your blog post titles too, which is a quick and easy way to make them stand out.
